Switching from Army to Air Force, do you retain your rank?

he can try, when I tried back in 1998 they weren;t taking army. sounds liek he may have some reserve time or his chain of command is yanking his chain and won't send him to the baord, he needs to go see EO or IG, he has four years left before he will be kicked out unless he just wants to RCP and get out. Doing board during a deployment is easier, if they send him.
