Coefficient of friction due to air resistance?

What would be a reasonable (+/- 10%) approximation for the coefficient of friction due to air resistance for a smooth spherical object falling through the air? An object like a bowling ball, croquet ball (sanded smooth). And, is the coefficient applied to the velocity? velocity-squared? Thanks for your help.
