Day Care Question for my 17month Old Daughter?
Chances are, if she's running a legitimate home daycare, she will already be thinking of these things herself because, at the very least, you probably aren't the first one to ask. Just say something like "Wow, I really think your daycare (or just you) will be a great fit for our family! I'm really excited! Just a few things to discuss left." Just be very casual about it, don't feel bad for asking. These are normal questions that any parent might want to ask. Don't say "I want to know everyone's names who live here in case something bad happens". Just say "I'd like to be familiar with everyone who may be around my child, is there anyone else who lives with you I could meet?" Introduce yourself with your last name, and if they don't give theirs, just say "Greg what?" Just be casual about it. As far as the tax question, go ahead and get a form (Ugh, I can't remember what form it is) and give it to her to fill out. Most of it has to be filled out by you, but there's a couple lines the sitter is supposed to fill out. Or just ask (after you find out which form it is) "Should I go ahead and print off a ___form, or is that something you take care of at the end of the year?" Trust me though, she should be used to these questions. If she's not, it's because she's new to the business. The only thing that ever kinda annoyed me was when a parent asked for my SSN to put on their taxes, just like that, when we had never discussed the whole subject at all. Because as a sitter, if I make less than $3000 per year, I don't have to pay taxes in. But anything over that and I do. So it's nice to know if someone will be filing your SSN before-hand so you can be prepared.
